Ntenje Katota - Tour team 2007 |
"Dance4Life means a lot to me. It has become part of my life and has given me the energy and skill to continue to raise awareness not only in my community but also out side my community it has given me a platform to speak on behalf of the voiceless children that are affected by HIV, it is sad that not much is been done when it come to access to better treatment but dance4life has given me the hope and strength to go on raising awareness and campaign and that some day hope is coming for people living with HIV in the world and especially Africa. It is a long road but it will be silly if we decide to give up we might not know how close we are. Lets continue the journey.

Simon Porter - Tour team 2006 |
"Being a member of the dance4life tour team was an exciting and inspiring experience. It opened my eyes about a lot of things surrounding the HIV pandemic, both here in the UK and on a worldwide scale. Most of all, my involvement with D4L confirmed my faith in the unifying power of music and dance, and reinforced my belief that young people can be a genuine force for change within the world today. "Being part of the UK Dance4Life event was a fantastic opportunity - seeing young people dancing across the globe for HIV / AIDS was really something special and I was proud to have taken part. Nowadays, you just can't talk enough about the importance of safer sex - remember you've gotta strap it up before you slap it up." - Tim Westwood, Radio One DJ and D4L UK ambassador

Life Skills Programme
In addition to the visit from the Tour Team and the creation of Agents of Change, participating schools will take part in Dance4Life’s Life Skills Programme.
The Life Skills Programme consists of a series of workshops delivered by our trained Global Educators and by professional local sexual health services to help build on students’ knowledge about global education and sexual reproductive health.
The Global Education workshops currently offered are HIV and Poverty, Access to Treatment, and Being an Agent of Change.
In addition to Dance4Life, there are some other organizations that are also working to further sexual and reproductive education. In Newham, there is an organization called SHiNE. SHINE is a free and confidential young people’s contraceptive and sexual health service for all young men and women from 11 up to the age of 24, including young gay and lesbian people.
As well as providing workshops in schools and colleges around sexual health and contraception including training for those working with young people, SHiNE also runs 4 drop in clinics for young people in Newham.
There is a second organization called OPTIONS, which offers confidential contraceptive and sexual health services, and general and specialist women’s health services.
OPTIONS provides contraceptive counselling for clients of all ages. They offer a young people’s advisory service (YPAS) which provides advice and contraceptive supplies for under 26 year olds and a pregnancy counselling and abortion service (PCAS) including early medical termination. They also have cervical screening and clinics on menopause, PMS, contraceptive problems and psychosexual counselling.
