Ntenje Katota - Tour team 2007

"Dance4Life means a lot to me.  It has become part of my life and has given me the energy and skill to continue to raise awareness not only in my community but also out side my community it has given me a platform to speak on behalf of the voiceless children that are affected by HIV, it is sad that not much is been done when it come to access to better treatment but dance4life has given me the hope and strength to go on raising awareness and campaign and that some day hope is coming for people living with HIV in the world and especially Africa. It is a long road but it will be silly if we decide to give up we might not know how close we are. Lets continue the journey.

Simon Porter - Tour team 2006

"Being a member of the dance4life tour team was an exciting and inspiring experience. It opened my eyes about a lot of things surrounding the HIV pandemic, both here in the UK and on a worldwide scale. Most of all, my involvement with D4L confirmed my faith in the unifying power of music and dance, and reinforced my belief that young people can be a genuine force for change within the world today. "Being part of the UK Dance4Life event was a fantastic opportunity - seeing young people dancing across the globe for HIV / AIDS was really something special and I was proud to have taken part. Nowadays, you just can't talk enough about the importance of safer sex - remember you've gotta strap it up before you slap it up." - Tim Westwood, Radio One DJ and D4L UK ambassador

Agents of Change

The Tour Workshop leaves in its wake students feeling energized, enthusiastic, and informed! They are empowered and incensed to make a difference and help tackle HIV and AIDS. We ask that students become Agents of Change by undertaking their own actions, using their newfound energy and knowledge to spread awareness about HIV.

Students are encouraged to fundraise for AIDS prevention projects to raise money for those who are unable to gain access to the same information. Fundraising is an easy way for students to demonstrate their desire for change and to also help those who are unable to help themselves. All the money raised will be sent to support peer educator projects in South East Asia and in Sub Saharan Africa so that young people living in these rural areas are given the chance to access life-saving information about HIV and sexual and reproductive health. For more information about where the money goes, click here!

A great example of Agents of Change fundraising took place last year at Hillcrest School in Birmingham.  For one week Hillcrest became host to “The Pink and Purple Pampering Palace” where students and teachers could go to be treated to massages, facials and manicures by the school team, dressed in outrageous pink and purple costumes to match the official Dance4Life colours. A non uniform day in which everyone had to come dressed in pink and purple also witnessed some interesting fashion faux pas!  Hillcrest School did a great job coming up with such a truly original fundraising idea for Dance4Life!
