UK Tour 2007 - a message from Enoch

17-12-2007

"I had never thought of a drill so inspiring in projecting information, not until I was part of dance4Life! This shall remain memorable for my entire life. (...)"

Enoch (SPW Uganda Hep 2004) joined the Dance4life tour team 2007 traveling around the UK. Now having returned to his country he shares his experience...

How I wish that every youth worldwide gets a doze of its action. The tradition of young people using there voice, the HIV track with a physical drill, was a unique integrating experience to effortlessly raise HIV/AIDS awareness. My interaction with those youth after every session brought to my realization with out dought that this medium is the best for them to build upon their resources in the field of behavior change, to achieve health and communication in fighting the epidemic, and represents a platform that offered a bit of cross cultural learning. One other particular strength was the young people’s inquest in knowing how they can act for life and be part of the project. This was a sign of hope and determination to strive against the odds and make significant contribution to wipe out HIV/AIDS and be full time agents of change. With this, certainly I look forward to extending similar skills, energy amongst Ugandan youth in my continuous effort of raising HIV/AIDS awareness by adopting the dance4life methodologies back in Uganda.”

Enoch is Currently studying for a Bachelor’s degree in commerce at Makerere University in Uganda, he is also pursuing his passion for community development in the area of HIV prevention through work with several organizations. On his campus he is fully engaged with the Campus Alliance to Wipe out HIV/AIDS (CAWA) and with Students Partnership Worldwide (SPW) as an active member of the Ex-Volunteer Network, leading trainings of new volunteers in HIV prevention and rural community development. From 5th-23rd November 2007 he took part in the dance4Life school tour were we visited schools across the United Kingdom and he was part of a team of six delivering the interactive workshop to young people in secondary schools to inform them about HIV and AIDS by delivering information sessions on HIV/AIDS, and shared his personal testimony with conviction. His dream is to break barriers and empower young people to realize there full potential in fighting the pandemic right from rural grassroots level.
